Last week, I mentioned the Florida adoption agency whose license may be revoked by the Florida Department of Children and Families, Adoptions by Shepherd’s Care (ASC). After reading the article about Adoptions by Shepherd’s Care in the Florida Sun-Sentinel, I filed a Freedom of Information Act Request with Florida DCF on June 6, 2011 asking for documents related to ASC. Since another journalist had already requested the documents, they’d already been redacted, and DCF was able to turn the request around in just six days. Thanks, Florida DCF!
Out of 21 different documents, I’m posting three that seem to contain the most relevant information. The first is an intent of revocation notice, hand-delivered to Adoptions by Shepherd’s Care on March 19, 2011. It lists the reasons why DCF is trying to close the agency. The second document relates to a 2009 investigation, and the third is also related to that investigation.
