Filing Public Records Requests in Guatemala

Finally, my package of public records arrived in the post from Guatemala! Special thanks to Associated Press Guatemala City correspondent Juan Carlos Llorca for his time and energy in picking ‘em up and shipping them to the States.

Trusty ol' DHL came through!

Yup, I’m such a public records dork that I photographed the files before opening…

The documents are neatly organized, divided by lawyer's name and partitioned via paper clip!

And here they are:

Here they are! All the batches!

So what, exactly, are they? Basically, these are official Organismo Judicial copies of legal transactions that were filed by various Guatemalan adoption lawyers whose business practices I’m curious about. Specifically:

  1. Saul Vinicio Garcia Rivera
  2. Carmen Esmerelda Pantaleon Pacheco
  3. Javier Oswoldo Villatoro Morales
  4. Maria Cristina Menedez Acevedo
  5. Francisco Garcia Gudiel
  6. Cesar Agosto Trujillo Lopez
  7. Francisco Everardo Urizar Rivera
  8. Fredy Ariel Leonardo Hernandez
  9. Alfonso Cacacho Ralda
  10. Raul Antonio Castillo Hernandez
  11. Miriam Elena Monterroso Bonilla
